Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9-inch square pan.**With an electric mixer, mix egg, fruit cocktail, 1 cup sugar, flour, soda, and salt in order given. Pour into prepared pan.**Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.**To make sauce: bring to a boil 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk, and butter or margarine. Serve hot on cake.**
